Last Sunday saw the fourth race of the Three Counties Cross Country League take place at Wing, near Leighton Buzzard. With several members of the Biggleswade AC XC Team away on holiday or out through injury or illness meant for a rather depleted showing unfortunately. This was particularly felt by the male contingent being one short of the 8 required to score. Despite this BAC put on a brave face and got stuck in with the new and very muddy course around fields backing on to race HQ at Cottesloe School. It is fair to say the quagmire made racing somewhat challenging, and for some actually keeping upright! Even with conditions underfoot being somewhat boggy, BAC demonstrated grit and steely determination to come away with some noteworthy finishes. First home for the Team was Nicholas Sinclair who continues to go from strength to strength in his inaugural XC season. On the Women's Team, Emily Varley achieved 2nd female and was 1st in her age category, and Roxann Holder coming 2nd in her age category - all whilst both suffering from recent injuries. With these results Emily maintains her 2nd female overall position, and Roxann 2nd in the 30-34 age category within the League placings. Charlie Arnold and Louise Thomas attained 3rd place in their respective age categories too. In terms of Team results, the BAC Men finished 14th and Women 5th to achieve a combined position of 10th. Biggleswade AC are currently 11th in the League. Next and final race will be on 16th February at Delapre Park in Wootton, Northamptonshire.
