BAC athletes make a cracking start to the outdoor season
Seven BAC athletes competing in the Peter Lee Memorial Open Meeting at the Ridlins Athletic Track, Stevenage, on Sunday March 30, got the outdoor track and field season off to a cracking start with three new club records, three other PBs and a fine race win.
The new club records were achieved by:
● Leonie Brunning in the Sen W hammer with a throw of 41.23m to break the previous record for that event of 36.88m which had stood since 2010!
● Ross Bone in the U-13B javelin where he knocked over 3 metres of his PB with a throw of 34.67m to nudge past the previous club record of 34.35 set in 2008. He also achieved a new PB of 2.39.43 in the 800m, knocking over 10 seconds off his previous best.
● Lauren Bone in the U-15G 1500m with a time of 5.12.43, some two seconds faster than her own previous club record.
The other two PBs at Stevenage were achieved by Austin Milner (U-15B) with a time of 5.06.06 in the 1500m and Theo Milner (U-13B) with 5.16.67 over the same distance. The fine race win was achieved by Henry Knox (U-17M) who stormed home in his 800m race in a time of 2.06.62, only just over 2 seconds outside his own club record. BAC’s seventh athlete at the meeting was Richard Bevan (M40) who ran an SB of 5.02.81 in the 1500m.
