Many congratulations to all our senior road running members for their representation at race events, support and commitment to Biggleswade AC. To celebrate member efforts and successes in 2024, a presentation evening was held on Friday 7th March in nearby Potton where various trophies, medals and certificates were awarded. These awards were in part following participation in designated Club Championship races for 5k, 10k, 10 mile and Half Marathon distances and Club organised races all throughout last year and based on finishers’ WAVA age grading. There were also further awards for Marathon/Ultra, Most Improved, Endeavour, Newcomer and BAC Spirit, with the recipients selected by Coaches or the Club Committee.

The Marathon/Ultra award went to Samantha Thorogood for her run in the Boston marathon last April. The weather conditions were truly atrocious and Samantha’s grit and determination despite this were duly recognised by the Coaches. Emily Varley and Paul Swinburne were worthy winners of the Most Improved awards. The Coaches acknowledged the additional effort made by them to build on performances with committed training paying and reflecting in race results. Magdalena Hartley received the prestigious Endeavour trophy, Jo Morrin the Newcomer award and Maria Merridan and Bev Strong were jointly awarded the BAC Spirit for their contributions and support to Club activities. Thank you to Biggleswade AC President, Alistair Burt for attending and awarding the trophies to the winners, Coaches, Giles Hawthorne and Hannah Broom for introducing and presenting each award as well as Bev Strong for arranging the evening.
