Juniors fly the flag for BAC at English National XC Championships

Great to see four of our junior athletes flying the flag for BAC at the 2025 English National Cross Country Championships – and doing themselves and the club proud!

Oliver Weddell, Sidney Hammond, Lauren Bone and Ross Bone all produced great runs over a challenging hilly and very muddy course at the iconic Parliament Hill Fields in London on Saturday February 22.

The strength of their performances can be gauged by the fact that the very slippery underfoot conditions led to a lot of fallers (among the spectators as well as the runners!) and a number of non-finishers in several of the races.

In the U-15B race, Ollie achieved a notable top 100 spot, coming in 96th of the eventual 343 finishers. Team mate Sid was only 27 seconds behind in 139th, easily in the top half of the field. Lauren also achieved a top half finish, coming 142nd of 306 finishers in the U-15G race. Ross was a very creditable 231st of 318 in the U-13B race.

At the time of writing, the official YouTube live feed video of the whole championships was still available to view. There are glimpses of all four BAC runners in their respective races although they’re probably more easily spotted on a screen bigger than a mobile phone!
