Kicking off the 2025 athletics season with our Throws Fest
We kicked off the 2025 athletics season with our annual throws fest last Saturday. Throws Fest has always proven to be a highly popular event. As such we took the decision to move it from our normal Wednesday evening and move it to a Saturday and we doubled the entrants. The event again proved popular and even with doubling the entrants we still filled up very quickly. We at BAC would like to thank all that came to the throws fest to make it a good event.
Three of BAC’s junior field athletes got their 2025 outdoor season off to a flying start with a new club record and three big new PBs during this year’s Biggleswade Throws Fest at our Sandy track on Saturday March 22.
The new club record was set by Oran Blake in the U-17M hammer (5kg) event with a PB of 35.27m, nearly three metres further than his own previous record throw.
The other two new PBs were achieved by Bradley Cant in the U-15B javelin (600g) with a throw of 33.85m, also getting on for three metres further than his previous PB; and Ross Bone in the U-13B javelin (400g) with a throw of 31.44m, an improvement of well over a metre on his previous PB.
As for our senior athletes Orlagh Brunning competed for the first time as an U20 which came with the challenge of competing for the first time at 4kg in the shot put. Darren Janssen set a new V35 club record in the javelin throw.
