No Stopping at Stopsley!

Biggleswade AC cross country team braved the chilly temperatures for the next race in the Three Counties Cross Country League last Sunday. Taking place at Stopsley, the course is one of the more challenging ones with a steep uphill right at the finish to test those already tired legs and lung capacity! This didn't deter our 18 runners, however, who competed on the day to complete the 5 mile route and take on that dastardly hill finish. Despite being one of the smaller clubs participating, Biggleswade AC continues to shine in the League individual placings. Emily Varley currently sits first female overall in the League following her 2nd place finish performance at Stopsley and coming in first at the Wellingborough race. Roxann Holder also had an excellent result, once again achieving 3rd female in her age category and which sees her positioned 2nd in the League for the Female 30-34 category. For the men, Ian Grimwood secured first place within his age category and is currently placed 2nd in the League in the Male 70-74 age category. The team race results saw the Biggleswade AC women achieve 5th - a superb gain on the previous two race performances - and the men were 12th. After three races, Biggleswade AC are currently 12th in the League with the next race scheduled for 2nd February at Wing.

Thanks again to member Bev Strong for coordinating entries and undertaking the administration for the BAC runners.

Full League results are published on the Three Counties Cross Country League website.

The Three Counties Cross Country League runs from October to February. All races are off-road and routes are typically along trails and footpaths, through woodland, parkland or around farmland. It's a fun, social League solely based on finishing position rather than time. And as a reward, tea and cake are served afterwards for all runners.
