Three more BAC athletes awarded Bedfordshire County Badges
Another three Biggleswade AC athletes − Ryan Kennerley, Ésa Blake and Bradley Cant – have been awarded Bedfordshire County Badges, bringing to five the number of club members to receive that recognition this year.
County Badges are awarded annually to athletes who have represented Bedfordshire in regional or national inter-counties athletics or cross country championships on at least two occasions over two or more seasons.
Bedfordshire AAA’s original published list of badge recipients for this year only included two BAC athletes, Ross Bone and Sidney Hammond, and they received their badges at the association’s 2025 annual meeting earlier this month, as previously reported.
Subsequently, it was realised that Ryan, Ésa and Bradley also qualified for that recognition this year and it is now planned to officially present them with their badges at BAC’s annual presentation evening in the new year.
Ryan qualified through representing Bedfordshire in the 100m and 110mH at the SEAA’s (South of England Athletic Association) U-20/SenM Inter Counties Track & Field Championships in 2024 and the 110mH at the 2025 championships.
Ésa was selected by the county for the hammer and javelin at the SEAA’s 2023 U-15/U-17W Inter Counties Track & Field Championships and the hammer in the 2025 championships.
Bradley was selected for the boys’ javelin and discus at the 2023 Derek Crookes U-13 Inter-Counties Championships, which are effectively the SEAA regional U-13 championships, and the javelin at the SEAA’s 2025 U-15/U-17M Inter Counties.
BAC has now had twelve athletes awarded county badges over the last three years – the previous recent recipients being Sureyya Akay, Oran Blake, Lauren Bone, Henry Knox and Austin Milner in 2024 and Orlagh Brunning and Noah Buckley in 2023.
