Two BAC Juniors awarded Bedfordshire County Badges

Congratulations to Biggleswade AC Juniors Ross Bone and Sidney Hammond who have just been awarded Bedfordshire County Badges.

County Badges are awarded annually to athletes who have represented Bedfordshire in regional or national inter-counties athletics or cross country championships on at least two occasions over two or more seasons.

This year’s badges were officially presented during the Bedfordshire Amateur Athletic Association’s annual general meeting held at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium on Friday November 14.

Ross, an U-13 athlete, qualified through representing Bedfordshire in the 800m and javelin at the 2024 Derek Crookes U-13 Inter-Counties Championships, which are effectively the SEAA (South of England Athletic Association) regional U-13 championships, and the 2024/25 season UK CAU Inter Counties Cross Country Championships earlier this year.

Sid, an U-17 athlete, was selected by Bedfordshire for the SEAA 2023/24 Inter Counties Cross Country Championships; the 800m and high jump at the SEAA’s 2024 U-15/U-17 Inter Counties Track & Field Championships; and the 2024/25 UK CAU Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.

BAC has now had nine junior athletes awarded county badges over the last three years – the previous recent recipients being Sureyya Akay, Oran Blake, Lauren Bone, Henry Knox and Austin Milner in 2024 and Orlagh Brunning and Noah Buckley in 2023. Hopefully there will be more to come over the next three years!
