Ariana and Nathan achieve double successes at Lee Valley Minithon

BAC Juniors Ariana Lewis and Nathan Cornwall rounded off their 2025 athletics in style by both winning medals and setting PBs at the Lee Valley Minithon in north London on Saturday December 20.

The Minithon is described as an indoor ‘mini Olympics’ where children in schools years 3-7 − from all over East and South East England − take part in a range of track and field events and have fun at the same time.

Participants can compete in up to three events during the day, with points awarded for each performance to produce a final points tally. The first 10 in each gender/age group are awarded gold medals, the next 10 get silvers and the rest get bronzes.

Ariana, an U-13G athlete, competed in the Year 6&7 Girls category and finished 18th of the 60 competitors with 162 points to win a silver medal.  Her three events were the 60m (where she ran an indoor PB of 9.16), the 200m and the long jump.

Nathan, now an U-13B for indoor athletics, competed in the Year 6&7 Boys category and finished 21st of the 63 competitors with 156 points to win a bronze medal – just one point outside the top 20 and a silver medal! He took part in the 600m (where he moved up from 4th towards the end of the second of the three 200m laps to finish a close 2nd right on the shoulder of the winner and achieve a PB of 1:50.3); the 200m and the long jump.

●The third and final Lee Valley Minithon of the 2025/26 indoor season will be held on Saturday March 28. Entries open on February 1 or 2 (depending on which bit of the current website information is correct!): https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2026/GBR/minithon3/

NOTE: Entries for the Minithons tend to fill up rapidly so anyone interested in taking part should probably get in quickly.
