Great BAC team and individual performances at Chiltern XC League match

Great BAC team and individual performances at Chiltern XC League match

BAC’s latest Chiltern Cross Country League match at Stopsley Common, Luton, on Saturday November 30 –  saw our eight-strong squad of Juniors produce a team first place, five individuals achieve top 20 finishes and a sixth athlete produce his best result of the season.

The team first place on the day was achieved by Austin Milner, Theo Milner and Ross Bone who combined to top the Division 2 U-13B leader board. They are also now only one point behind the leading club in that competition after the first three league matches of the season.

BAC also did well in the Division 2 U-15B team competition, despite only having two scorers rather than the maximum of three, with Sidney Hammond and Oliver Weddell combining to achieve third place on the day and fourth spot after three matches. Sid and Ollie also had another great personal duel, with the former just pipping the latter (with both given the same time in 16th and 17th places respectively) to level the score in their personal XC competition this season at 2-2!

The five BAC runners who achieved top 20 finishes in the combined Division 1/Division 2 races**, most of which had fields of 60-70 competitors, were Sid, Ollie, Austin (19th in U-13B), Lauren Bone (15th in U-15G) and Lewis Evans (16th in U-11B).

Henry Knox, in his first season as an U-17M competitor, wrapped up a great meeting for BAC by producing his best club XC performance to date to achieve a solid middle of the field finish in the U-17M race.

Summing up the day, Alison Bone,  BAC's team manager for the Chiltern XC League, commented: “There was quite a bit of mud around but our team produced some great running and another set of fantastic results. Well done to all!”

** Clubs from Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire compete in the Chiltern XC League which is organised into two divisions (except for U-11s), with all runners competing in the same races at the same venues. Scoring is done separately for each division. BAC compete in Division 2.
