Junior middle distance runners shine at Watford meetings
A big ‘well done’ to two of BAC’s junior middle distance runners for three great recent performances – Henry Knox for breaking a club 800m record and Oliver Weddell for achieving new PBs over two different distances in the space of a fortnight.
Henry knocked nearly two seconds off his own previous club U-17M 800m record with a time of 2.04.19 when finishing 3rd of nine runners in one of the 19 races over that distance at this season’s final Watford Harriers Open Graded Meeting.
The same meeting, held at the Woodside Stadium, Watford, on Wednesday September 4, also saw U-15 athlete Oliver lower his 800m PB by nearly six seconds to 2.23.90 when winning his race ahead of eleven other runners.
Two weeks earlier, at the previous Watford Harriers Open Graded Meeting on Wednesday August 21, Oliver improved his 1500m PB by nearly three seconds with a time of 4.43.10 to finish 2nd of 13 in his race.
Both athletes are part of a group of fast-improving BAC junior middle distance runners being coached by Sandra Ingham.
