Leonie wins gold to become new NI & Ulster high jump champion

BAC’s Leonie Brunning is the new Northern Ireland & Ulster senior women’s high jump champion with a win in that event at the Athletics Northern Ireland senior championships held in Belfast on August 9.

Leonie, who won her high jump gold with a clearance of 1.60m, also won bronze in the women’s shot with a put of 10.86m and finished 5th in the women’s hammer with a throw of 40.56m.

Hannah Brunning added to the family collection of medals at the championships with a bronze in the women’s discus after a throw of 33.60m. She also finished 7th in the women’s hammer with a new PB of 34.26m.

Orlagh Brunning, a first year U-20 athlete competing in a senior championships, finished 6th in the women’s discus with a throw of 28.49m.
